The military veterans charity FarmAble: Waitrose Weekend

With all the turbulence the 21st century is chucking at us, it’s fairly safe to say that the terms ‘social prescribing’ and ‘nature on prescription’ ‒ a health professional’s ability to offer wholesome doses of community or green space as a route towards improved mental health ‒ have more resonance than ever before. To see both in action, as young military veterans are helped to overcome their difficulties by rolling up their sleeves together in an abandoned walled garden at Pentillie Castle in Cornwall, a chorus of healthy banter and seedlings poking through newly dug beds are evidence indeed that initiatives like this have the makings of a fourth emergency service.
