The unknown story of the Unknown Warrior: The Daily Express

This has always fascinated me - not least for the lengths those tasked with the operation went to to ensure that the Unknown Warrior’s identity would never be known - so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to write about it for the Daily Express. And little did I know when I set out that so much new evidence relating to the story would come to light in this centenary year. Here‘s my piece, published on 11.11.20, 100 years to the day since the Unknown Warrior was laid to rest at Westminster Abbey. Anyone wishing to know more should read Buried Among Kings by Mark Scott, detailing the recent developments, particularly concerning the fate of the soldiers who were not selected.
