Is Utrecht the Netherlands’ best-kept secret? for Eurotunnel

Having nipped over to the Netherlands from the UK a few times this year, two things strike me (1) If it’s so close you can see land from the plane the whole time, why are we all… erm… flying there? (2) The Netherlands ≠ Amsterdam. There’s far more besides in the way of beaches, islands, equibeautiful canal cities, and even some hills (true), all linked by the best transport infrastructure I’ve ever seen.

And so, just scratching the surface of the country that’s really captured my imagination in the last 12 months, I wrote this piece for Eurotunnel about the city of Utrecht. The locals don’t like people calling it a little Amsterdam (understandably; they have their own identity), so let’s just say it quietly.

Utrecht is like a mini Amsterdam, just without the crowds. Sshh.
